The Marshall Memo 4/25/11

I hope everyone had a good Easter holiday.  Since my children live out of state, my husband and I went out for brunch.  Feeling bad for overeating, we then hiked a few miles on the Chumash trail.  The views were gorgeous and the clouds added to the beauty.

A little over a week ago, I sent out my very first newsletter.  In case you haven’t noticed, I draw a name each month from those who’ve signed up for the newsletter and give them a book.  There is one more week before this month’s drawing, so if you haven’t already signed up, read about how the newsletter works on the contact/contest page and sign up!  It’s easy, it’s free, and there is absolutely no obligation.  You’ll get all the latest information about my books first, along with other fun stuff.  Hope to see you on the list.

This past week, my husband and I took a day trip to the desert in Lancaster, California to the California poppy reserves, and though the poppies weren’t up to their usual growth, we enjoyed our day outdoors walking the trails and observing nature.  Here are a few of the pictures I took.  Please forgive me, but I’m not a very good photographer.

Normally there is a thick carpet of poppies this time of year. As you can see, it was sparse. There were lots of tiny gold fieds

And tons of Owl’s Clover

Checker Fiddleneck - my favorite!

Gold Fieds

Next month, I will begin blogging about the characters in my next book – ONE FOR THE ROAD.
Until then, make it a great week!
